Waterworld (1995)
The polar ice caps have melted, causing a great flood that has swallowed the earth. The few unlucky survivors of this cataclysm live upon the enormous spherical sea like rats upon rafts, trying desperately to remain afloat. Our hero, the nameless mutant fish-man known only as “Mariner”, must find dry land by deciphering a crude map inked upon the back of “The Girl with the Everest Tattoo”.
TortureVision Rating: GOOD |
Good features were better than expected. Bad features were awful, yet still enjoyable. Abortions were utter torment to sit through.
I agree with you, this movie is just a bad version of Mad Max and it has so many plot holes it looks like a swiss cheese, but it's fun to watch too. And I like the scene in which the little brat tells Dennis Hopper he's screwed (which is just like the one in David Lynch's Dune). Great episode, guys. BTW, I don't know if you take requests but if you ever get the chance of watching "Luther - The Geek" (which is one of the worst psycho movies EVER) please consider to make an episode of it. 8)
ReplyDeleteI never heard of "Luther the Geek" until today. I went to YouTube to check out the trailer and found the full movie streaming from Troma's official YouTube channel. While I'm not normally a fan of Troma movies, this one seems watchable. I'll put it on our list. Thanks, Pensador.
DeleteUm - why is TORTUREVISION not launched as VIDEOS? While I always loved Podcasts way back when - I want to see you guys VISUALLY. I love hearing the banter between you guys, but podcasts feel like a 1920s thing to me. Sorry my friend - but the future and recent past is entirely about video, so I'm not sure what sort of good comments I can provide here. I love ya, but since I'm not living in a car, this was hard for me...
ReplyDeleteSean Cowen,
DeleteYou are encouraged to watch the corresponding movie mentioned in each podcast. Podcasts, in nature, are not visual. Yes, we understand that this is not enjoyable for everyone. This is why we offer, this FREE content, on our YouTube channel TortureVisionTV as well for audience members just like you.

We understand not everyone is willing, or able to, watch the content reviewed in each podcast so you can watch TortureVisionTV to see what we are talking about. We believe we have found a nice balance for our audience no matter where their preferences are, visual or audio. Not all episodes are available, yet, in visual form so please check back with us in the near future. We offer new content each and every week! And it is all for FREE! Thanks for commenting and hope you enjoy the show :-)
I'll keep this as short as possible, because if our audio is a pain to sit through, a huge wall of text will be insufferable. The "Vision" aspect of TortureVision is in reference to the media we watch before each podcast.
DeleteWe are currently converting our audio tracks into videos for YouTube, however, which will provide screen shots (and in some cases actual video) of each item we discuss. If you're looking for ADDITIONAL visual stimulation beyond that I don't see how we can comply. This isn't The Howard Stern Show. We don't have naked women appearing in our "studio", and watching us talk into microphones would be both pointless and boring.
If podcasting doesn't interest you, that's okay, but it isn't outdated by any means. There are far too many people doing it, actually. THAT should be your criticism- that what we're doing is unnecessary and/or redundant. In addition to podcasting, audio books are equally as popular. Furthermore, both terrestrial and satellite radio are still operating successfully. In 2014 there's still a strong desire for portable audio content... but certainly, it's not for everyone.
Thanks for the feedback.
